Daily Jewel - Egyptian Snake Pendant, Metropolitain Museum of Art Shop

MET Store
Egyptian Snake Necklace
$50
We've featured quite a bit of snake jewelry on jewelry dose daily based on recently large demand, but few have been as cute and innocent (I like that) as this new arrival in the Metropolitain Museum of Art museum shop.

This well sized piece is 'based on a gold bracelet from the Macedonian and Ptolemaic period (ca. 332-30 B.C.) and features a sinuous snake."  I tend to think he looks cuter than he does "sinuous."

Some other interesting tidbits via the MET shop marketing crew -  "After Egypt came under the rule of the Greeks and later became a province of the Roman Empire (after 27 B.C.), the snake became a fashionable jewelry motif, well suited for coiling around the neck and wrist. The bold coiled design on the original bracelet has been adapted to our pendant."

This pendant makes the perfect under $50 gift for that closet burlesque reptile lover in your life...and a great higher end (aka not from the dollar store) Halloween accessory.  You can visit the Metropolitain Museum of Art online or check our links to the far right and check out the MET jewelry for yourself.  What do you think?

Also, this looks great dangling over a purple cowl neck of a sweater dress - why not?
I am clearly obsessed with sweater dresses... and talking to myself. ; )
