Striking Kinetic Jewelry: A Trend We're Loving
There have been several reports of jewelry at NY Fashion Week as "absent" or "minimal" at best. The jewelry concepts that did grace the runway, however, were likely minimal because they were intended to make quick easy statements on their own. Going into Spring/Fall 2011 we'll be seeing jewelry that is slightly either bold or subdued in nature, but often a bit mechanical.
Elongated Finger Ring for Altuzarra |
One trend gaining momentum is the finger cuff, which takes its inspiration from ancient tribes as well as even a fetishy part of the victorian era. Collections for Altuzarra and Alexander Wang included elongated finger rings that hinge at the nuckle.
With global jewelry houses upping the ante for pieces liket these that "do more," we're likely to see a continuation of the movable/kinetic jewelry trend, especially in high and contemporary fashion.
We're really loving this trend - For an example of the kinetic ring trend in fashion jewelry, you can check out the Kookado Spiked Ring that was just won by Amanda on Jewelry Dose Daily above!
