Seeing Red Again...& Contest!!!

Ruby Colored Necklace
White House Black Market
Fall 2010
Color cues in accessories for the upcoming fall season include bold reds and royal purple.  Now I love bold red...and I love royal purple, but I had to think "they must be joking" when I saw the two being styled together in the recent edition of InStyle magazine.  I would've never thought that red and purple coming to popular fruition at the same time implied that they should to be worn at the same time.  Apparently stylist all over, however, have been tempted.

There are two things that have been said about wearing red and purple together: "If you can pull off red and purple together you are a true fashionista (I never liked that one)" and "If you wear red and purple together, you're having fun in your retirement as a part of the red hat society (I like that one).  The last time I wore red and purple together it was on a 101 Dalmations tshirt that showcased a light purple bow on a black and white puppy with a red zig-zaggy 80's heart (pretty cool at the time).  Sure, it looked great with my over the top spiral permed hair....but now? probably not so much.  I'm sure someone can pull it off though.  Think you'll try it?

If you aren't that brave, accenting an outfit with just one or the other will be a beautiful way to celebrate the fall...and I want to help.  I'm offering a pair of sterling silver and red coral earrings to one random jewelry dose daily reader.

To enter all you have to do is read and comment on our posts.  Each comment will get you one entry (comments prior to today Aug. 23rd will not be entered).  You can get additional entries for each comment you make (up to 2 per post).  On September 1st, we'll be drawing the winner and sending them a beautiful pair of red coral earrings to wear this fall.  You can start by letting me know where you would wear a pair of coral earrings here.  I hope you'll give it a shot... nothing to lose, but an awesome pair of free coral earrings!!! (and because these earrings are coral, they're gorgeous for summer resort as well)

I would wear a pair of red coral earring to bathe in... white, frothy bubbles, steamy air, rosy cheeks, dark grey nail and toe polish...white , grey,,,just missing the red .. hence the earrings.

I love jewel tones for autumn and winter. I honestly don't think I'm brave enough to pair red and purple. Maybe not in equal amounts. Hmmmmm......I feel an experiment a'brewin!

Red & Purple remind me of Royalty, something Regal and a mix of Fun...that's when you don't take fashion too seriously!

I would kill to see you dressed like that today haha.
Lol - I would definitely dress like that again... it hasn't been too long since I ditched my awesome tee habit...I stopped buying then when I got my last job because the only clothes I bought were work clothes (borrring ; )
Everyone has such great answers for this one!!!
I'd wear them when my hair is up to show them off! I'd also wear a small pearl stud in my second hole for extra glam :)
Anyone wear red with yellow? I would! lol!

i would too, mel! actually im wearing a carnelian necklace with a yellow shirt right now haha.
I'm not a huge earring wearer... however, they sound so pretty I would probably make a necklace just to show them off. I have been known to be gawdy in my teenage high school year, ie no fashion sense. As a throw back I could wear a big purple I love unicorns t-shirt.. Although my husband might not let me leave the house - he says he taught me how to be stylish, ha! BTW - I was talked into getting one of those spiral perms too, poster child of the eighties, yikes!
