Darling have you seen her?! The New York Times knows Wendy Brandes, and so should you.

She's been on the scene since 2004..so how could I have missed this one?  Media marketing guru turned jewelry designer Wendy Brandes designs pieces that are pure gold in more ways than one.  Her marketing background clearly plays a part in the selection of what goes into her collection as well as the story behind each piece.  In Wendy's collection you'll find edgy pop culture icons such as mudflap girls and skulls juxtapose to preppy classics such as lion emblems, tennis rackets, and whistles...because let's face it, we've all got some mixture of prep and edge!  If you are feeling cute, Ms. Brandes does some adorable animal pieces, and for when it is time to dress to impress, you will find that the collection offers great glam as well.  Wendy has something for everyone, as her collection seems to encompass all of psychological and socialogical history so well.  Each piece is accompanied by an extremely fitting name and whimsically romatic description of its historical symbolism...in a way that seemingly only Wendy could put together.  With Wendy's variety of poison rings and other tempting trinkets, I can't help but fantasizing I'm part of Sarah Michelle Gellar's world in Cruel Intentions...only about 300 years before the 1990's...and I like it that way.  Thanks Wendy for such a fantastical collection!  You can find Wendy's pieces at http://www.wendybrandes.com/ or http://www.brokenenglishjewelry.com/

I love to see jewelry designers supporting other jewelry designers. Nice. Wendy's pieces are pretty amazing, I must say. I have been lucky enough to borrow them!

As for jewelry designers supporting other designers....I've been in the biz for a long time and back in the day it was so much more common to support each other, in part because there were so few designers. It kinda got away from that as the field got more crowded. But it's never to late to bring back plain good karma. To that end I tip my jeweled hat to Andrea Gutierrez and Eddie Borgo! Madly fabulous both!!! Hilary Beane Design
I believe in bringing smart Karma back into the business as well! What a valuable comment!
Thanks for the great jewellery inpsiration.
