Donatella Versace to Officially Launch H&M for Versace Collection Tonight in NYC
Fashion writer and Forbes contributor Blue Carreon writes "I warn you though; this is a massive slideshow that features women and mens's clothes, shoes, bags, belts, underwear, bracelets, home furnishings...and this is only part of the colorful and amazing collection inspired by vintage Versace pieces," in an effort to convince viewers and their wallets to take heed as they preview Versace's new collection for H&M. Will the collection be that irresistable? Apparently.
Today Vogue.com reminded readers that right now the world is experiencing a "Versace Moment," characterized by baroque opulence, wild prints, psychedelic patterns, and statement jewelry. That being said, it looks like the timing of this new collection launch is perfect. The recent state of the economy and a bargain hungry blogosphere shouldn't hurt either.
Donatella Versace will official unveil the crop yielded by what is being called the most exciting collaboration this year tonight at a star studded release party in New York City. "Versace is one of the most important brands of recent times and their collection for H&M will be glamorous and famboyant - everything that Versace stands for," says Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M. Approximately 90 pieces will debut in the collection's launch, ranging in price from $17.95 to about $300 largely dependent on the materials used in the piece.
Even at the high end, the prices are a far cry from those the iconic luxury brand has become known for. Unlike other similar launches, words "affordable" and "luxury" are not seen anywhere in any of the collection's marketing campaigns, but instead H&M and Versace have seemingly decided to emphasize the vibrance, decadent colors, and vintage inspiration that the collection embodies.
Tonight's launch event event will feauture a runway show and performances by Nicki Minaj and Prince. If you can't make it out to the event, or haven't been invited, chances are you will be able to check out plenty of images of the event online by tomorrow morning. The collection itself is expected to be available in H&M stores world wise on November 17th, and in the mean time you can check out a slide show of much of the collection at H&M's website. Brace yourself for the circus music that comes along with it ahead of time.
So what do you think? Will you be able to wear the new Versace for H&M pieces and look as fabulous as one of fashion's high end elites... or will this be one of those moments where a budget collection's less expensive fabrics will leave you feeling like a clown? Personally we believe that you'll need to find out when you can see and touch everything in person on the 17th. We're guessing the the black dresses and brightly colored scarves will be the safest bets for one and all.
