Hats off the England! Will the Royal Wedding Spur a Worldwide Statement Hat Trend?

Will the Royal Wedding Spur a Worldwide Statement Hat Trend?  Put simply, JDD is going to go on the record and say, "we think so."  They say that the mother of the bride should not wear white, lest she not complete with or overshade the bride.  If this is true, why not the same rule for hats?  No, the hats at the wedding weren't white, but they were big and bold enough to even give that lovely Alexander McQueen gown and Kate Middleton's effortlessly pretty face a slight run for their money.

Princesses Beatrice and Princess Eugenie arrived at Westminster Abbey wearing hats designed by designer Philip Treacy (seen above).  Like many other women at the royal wedding, these hats were, well, move over Lady Gaga, you're boring.  Even usual minimalist Victoria Beckham wore an attention getting hat, perfectly fashioned to the very front of her head.

As for bride Kate Middleton's headress,  Accessories Magazine reports, "Kate's "halo" tiara was made by Cartier in 1936 and was purchased by The Duke of York (later King George VI) for his Duchess (later Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother) three weeks before he succeeded his brother as King. The tiara was presented to Princess Elizabeth (now The Queen) by her mother on the occasion of her 18th birthday."

Hats are a celebratory tradition around the world, notably in Africa, where gorgeous hats, fabrics, and tapestries can be seen worn by both royals and commoners alike.  We hope the royal wedding will win one for statement head dress acceptance equality.  Tall gorgeous headwraps and easy hairdays may just be a few season's around the corner for women of all cultures (come on fashion, follow function already)!  We can only hope.  Until then, we're sure hatters will be mad elated by way of orders for quite some time.

Those hats are hilarious. But, I bet they get copied and modified all over the world.
