2011 Oscars Trend: When it Comes to Adding Bling, Go Straight for Embellishing the Dress

Celebs kept it classic in diamond jewelry at last night's Oscars... and to be honest, some stars even went jewelry minimal (oh we gasp).  Stars like Kate Blanchett. Halle Berry, and Gwyneth Paltrow sported plenty of bling, however, in the form of bejeweled embellishments attached straight to their dresses.  Another red carpet dress trend?  Lace, lace, and more lace... from the kind that looked like rags (Melissa Leo) to the kind that looked a little more like riches (Scarlett Johansen). 

When it comes to fave dresses, we're going with Mandy Moore, fave jewels?  We're going to go with the classic statement diamond necklace that Nicole Kidman wore - by none other than Fred Leighton.  We don't know many a woman young or old who would refuse wearing that one.  Most make you say "wtf," goes to Michelle Williams Chanel gown (what are you doing Chanel?).  We think it looks a little too much Thanksgiving Day turkey minus the oven.  Most interesting goes to Kate Blanchett's Givenchy couture gown.
